Bigg Boss 20: Salman Khan Faked a Chest-Pain Scare on Weekend Ka Vaar — Then Called Qazi Touqeer's Acting "Kamaal"
One Sunday episode gave us the most talked-about Weekend Ka Vaar moment of the season. Salman Khan clutched his chest, sank to the stage floor and asked for a doctor — and the whole country panicked. Minutes later, he was on his feet again, telling the Kashmiri singer Qazi Touqeer: that is exactly how it feels when you scare fifteen housemates with a health act. Then he praised Qazi's acting in Hindi, apologised to fans for a misleading promo, and made Bigg Boss history with an Instagram Story. Here is the full story.

Who is Qazi Touqeer, anyway?
If you watched reality TV in 2005, you already know this name. Qazi Touqeer is a singer from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. He won Fame Gurukul — the music reality show — along with Ruprekha Banerjee. A young Arijit Singh was a contestant on that same season and finished sixth. Qazi had no formal music training before the show; the public vote carried him to the win.
Fast-forward 21 years. Qazi walked into the Bigg Boss 20 house as one of 16 contestants and turned it into his own stage. His catchphrase — "I am a rockstar, baby" — is everywhere. On the season's first Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman himself called him the house's "only rockstar," mimicked his "Owww" on stage and even made the housemates do Qazi's step.
The drama that started it all
Qazi's late-night antics became the talking point of the season's opening weeks. He played split-personality bits — the Batman and Wolverine routines fans talk about — that left housemates unsure whether he was acting or not. Some found it hilarious. Others called it a mental-health act done for laughs, and said that was not okay.
He has said on camera that he does it only to entertain the audience. But inside the house, fifteen contestants did not always know where the act ended and reality began — and they worried about him.
Salman's masterstroke on September 20
On the September 20 Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman decided to give Qazi a taste of his own medicine. Mid-episode, he clutched his chest, looked like he was in real pain and sank down on the stage, asking for a doctor. The contestants panicked. The studio audience panicked.
Then Salman got up. It had all been an act. He told Qazi, right there on stage: this is what you have been doing to the people in the house. They were not aware you were acting, and they were getting worried about your health.
Qazi could not stop smiling. And then came the line that melted the whole exchange — Salman praised Qazi's acting skills, saying "Acting toh bahut hi kamaal ki thi." Fellow contestant Arishfa Khan jumped in too, saying nobody acts better than Qazi. Salman, never one to miss a joke, replied that his own acting wasn't bad either.
The promo that scared the whole country
Here is where it got messy. The episode promo was cut in a way that made it look like Salman had genuinely suffered a health scare. Fans flooded his Instagram comments with "Get Well Soon Bhaijaan" prayers. People genuinely feared the worst.
Around midnight on September 20, Salman took to his official Instagram handle with a Story to clear the air. He wrote that nothing was wrong with his health, "by the grace of God." He said the promo should not have been cut the way it was cut, and apologised on the makers' behalf.
He also explained the point of his act: the pain was only staged to show Qazi that what he did was wrong — because Qazi had used his health for entertainment while the fifteen people in the house were not aware he was acting. Salman added that mental health is a serious issue and should not be mocked for laughs.
Around 1:45 that night, the Bigg Boss makers fixed the promo. A new clip went up on the JioHotstar Reality handles in a comic tone, making it clear Salman's health was fine.
Why fans call this a historic moment
Salman Khan rarely posts about individual contestants. This was, as far as anyone can remember, the first time an active Bigg Boss contestant got a mention in the host's own Instagram Story. For Qazi's fans — who already call the Kashmiri singer "Lord" — it was proof that he had arrived.
Back home, the love is loud. Local artists Shahraan Fayaz and Sahil Manzoor painted a colourful mural of Qazi near Amar Singh College in Srinagar, and people stop to take selfies with it. Former Bigg Boss contestant Hina Khan, herself Kashmiri, said she was proud to see Qazi celebrated like a rockstar again after all these years — though she also noted her discomfort with illness being used as entertainment.
Is a Bollywood film next?
This is the question every fan is asking. Salman has a history of pulling Bigg Boss faces into his films — Santosh Shukla, Gautam Gulati and Shehnaz Gill all worked with him after their seasons. Fans are already speculating that Qazi, who has wanted an acting break since his Fame Gurukul days, could be next in line.
Let's be clear: nothing is confirmed, and this is fan buzz, not an announcement. But in the words Salman himself used on that stage, the boy clearly has the acting chops.
Good to know for Indian viewers
Bigg Boss 20 airs on Colors TV and streams on JioHotstar. Weekend Ka Vaar episodes — where Salman meets the housemates and settles the week's fights — air on Saturday and Sunday. New episodes stream on JioHotstar after the TV telecast.
My take
This was the smartest Weekend Ka Vaar move of the season. Salman did not scold Qazi — he showed him the mirror, then praised him in the same breath. Qazi walked out of that episode more popular than he walked in, and the "history" of that Instagram Story only added to it. If the makers keep giving him room and he keeps the antics fun rather than hurtful, the Kashmiri rockstar is going deep this season.
