Roadies Rebirth Episode 2 Written Update: A 71,000 Roadiums Bid, a Revenge Snatch, and a Boy from Nepal Who Shocked Everyone

If episode 1 was OG's day, episode 2 was a fight back. NewG took its revenge with a snatch of its own. A fitness trainer from Shillong taught a judo player how to climb a rope. And one boy pushed the bidding to 71,000 Roadiums — a number nobody expected this early. Here is episode 2, step by step.

Quick facts first

First, a leaders' game — and 20,000 extra Roadiums

The episode began with a small game for the leaders. Two leaders from each side had to balance plastic cups on their bodies. The pair that balanced more cups would win 20,000 extra Roadiums for their gang's common bank.

For OG, Neha Dhupia and Nikhil Chinapa played. For NewG, Abhishek Malhan and Baseer Ali. It was close — Neha and Nikhil balanced 10 cups, Abhishek and Baseer managed 9. One cup made the difference, and OG's bank grew by 20,000 before the auditions even started.

Audition 1: Salbani and Vihaan — the rope told the truth

Salbani is a fitness trainer from Shillong, in the North-East. She is a big Bani J fan, and there is a sweet link here: Bani had judged a fitness contest in the past where Salbani came second. Now Bani was sitting in front of her again, this time as a gang leader.

Salbani climbed the rope like it was nothing, up and down, smooth and clean. She also did strong kettlebell reps. Vihaan, a judo player from Jammu and Kashmir, sang a song and played the guitar, but that part fell flat. In a judo fight with Prince Narula, he could not pin Prince down. When his turn came on the rope, he could not climb it — and Salbani, the girl standing next to him, showed him how it is done.

Only one of the two could go through, and it had to be Salbani. But there was drama in the bidding. OG had won her at 17,500 Roadiums. NewG pressed the snatch button and took her for free, while OG paid. Revenge for Karishma, one day later. Bani put her stamp on Salbani's arm.

Audition 2: Rhythm and Kunwar — both picked

Rhythm came from Delhi. Kunwar came from Jammu. The two were tested against each other, not one by one. In a tyre-pull fight, Kunwar pulled harder and won. Then both had to climb ropes and try to bring the other down. Kunwar won that too.

Still, the leaders liked the fight in both boys. NewG took both of them: Kunwar for 5,000 Roadiums with Abhishek's stamp, and Rhythm for 2,500 Roadiums with Baseer's stamp.

Audition 3: Four walk in, all four get picked

The last group had four very different people. Kiaan runs a cloud kitchen, and he brought burgers he had made himself. The leaders and Rannvijay ate them and liked the taste. Shravani is a professional dancer, and she showed great flexibility in her dance. Soumya is a belly dancer who also plays taekwondo, and her belly dance won the room over.

And then there was Ganesh. He is from Nepal and was the runner-up of Himalaya Roadies. He did pull-ups, push-ups and stunts that left all six leaders shocked. You could see it on their faces — this was the boy both gangs wanted.

All four got picked. Ganesh went to OG for 71,000 Roadiums with Neha's stamp — by far the biggest bid of the season so far. Shravani also joined OG, for 6,500 Roadiums, Neha's stamp again. Soumya joined OG for just 500 Roadiums, with Nikhil's stamp. Kiaan joined NewG for 11,000 Roadiums, with Baseer's stamp.

Good to know for Indian viewers

Two episodes in, a clear picture is out. Gang OG is spending big and has the strongest names on paper — Sneha, Karishma, and now Ganesh. Gang NewG is picking smart and cheap, and has used its snatch well. Watch the show on MTV India at 7:00 PM, or catch the episode on JioHotstar and Netflix if you miss the TV telecast.

My take

This episode is why the new format works. One audition gave us a fan meeting her idol, one gave us a fair fight between two boys from Delhi and Jammu, and one gave us a bidding war that went all the way to 71,000. If Ganesh stays fit and calm, he is the boy to watch this season. OG may have spent too much too early, though. When the common bank runs low, these big bids will hurt.
